Neuronal Aging – Is it reversible?

نویسندگان

چکیده

The main risk factor for neurodegenerative disorders, like Alzheimer disease, is aging. At molecular level, aging correlates, in peripheral tissues and the central nervous system with epigenetic changes at chromatin (histones DNA) of aged cells. These can be reverted by expression the, so called, Yamanaka factors (YF). YF reprogram (rejuvenate) old cells to structural functional characteristics young In case system, upon expression, an increase cognitive capacity found. Our future objective, extrapolate results found mice human being, will look simple small chemical compounds a similar capacity, that YF, revert during development.

How "reversible" is telomeric aging?

A critical question in human health is the malleability of telomere length. Telomere length, sampled at one point during adult life, is predictive of certain types of cancer and other immune and metabolic-related diseases. We now know from basic studies that the telomere/telomerase maintenance system plays a causal role in accelerating biologic aging and promoting disease processes. One can dev...

coronary angiogenesis during experimental hypertension: is it reversible?

background: we investigated coronary angiogenesis and serum vascular endothelial growth factor (vegf) and its soluble receptor-1 (sflt-1) concentrations in two-kidney one-clip (2k1c) hypertensive rats before and after reversal of hypertension. methods: the animal groups were: (i) sham-clipped for 12 weeks; (ii) 2k1c for 12 weeks; (iii) sham-clipped for 12 weeks and unclipped for 12 weeks; and (...

Endothelial dysfunction: does it matter? Is it reversible?

Until recently, the endothelium was regarded as a relatively inert cell layer. However, over the past 20 years, research has revealed an extraordinary array of endothelial functions, including control over coagulation, fibrinolysis, arterial tone and vascular growth. Importantly, endothelial dysfunction has been implicated as a key event in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, coronary vasocons...

Aging in Orthodox Seeds is a Problem

Seed deterioration is loss of seed quality, viability and vigor due to effect of adverse environmental factors. Many of our crops are reproduced through seeds, and throughout the world large quantities are produced, stored and transported. Seed ageing during storage may cause retardation of field establishment, and may eventually result in seedling abnormalities or even failure of emergence. Du...
